comestible
edible
adjective koh-mehs-TEE-bleh Rare
Origin: From Latin comestibilis, from comedere (to eat up).
Usage Note
Comestible describes anything fit to be eaten safely. As a noun (los comestibles) it means foodstuffs or groceries, and tienda de comestibles is a traditional term for a grocery store—now largely replaced by supermercado in everyday speech. The word carries a slightly clinical or labelling register; in casual conversation se puede comer (you can eat it) is more natural than calling something comestible.
Examples
"No todas las setas silvestres son comestibles."
Natural Translation
Not all wild mushrooms are edible.
