Usage Note
Cementerio is the standard word for a cemetery or graveyard. Camposanto is an older, more poetic synonym. The word is a Greek-origin borrowing via Latin (koimeterion, sleeping place). In Spain and Latin America, the Día de los Muertos / Todos los Santos traditions centre on visiting the cementerio to honour the deceased.
