Canadian

adjective noun kah-nah-DYEN-seh Less Common

Usage Note

Canadiense serves as both adjective and noun (los canadienses = Canadians) and is invariable for gender — the same form works for masculine and feminine nouns (un actor canadiense, una actriz canadiense). Like all Spanish nationality adjectives, it is written in lowercase. As a noun it also informally refers to a heavy flannel jacket popular in outdoor contexts.
