Usage Note
Caladero refers to a stretch of sea or river where fish are plentiful and nets are traditionally cast (calar means to lower nets into the water). The term appears frequently in fishing-rights disputes and EU maritime policy debates. It is always masculine and distinct from calada (a single cast of the net).
