Usage Note
Cabello means hair of the head and is slightly more formal or literary than pelo, which is the everyday word for both head hair and body hair. You would say tiene el cabello negro in a description, but ¡córtame el pelo! in a barbershop. Cabello is almost always used in the singular as a collective noun when referring to someone's hair as a whole.
