Usage Note
Búnker is used both literally (a reinforced military shelter) and figuratively in Spanish political discourse to describe an entrenched, reactionary group resistant to change — a usage that became prominent during Spain's post-Franco transition to democracy. The plural is búnkeres or búnkers, both accepted by the RAE.

"Se refugiaron en el búnker durante el bombardeo."
Natural Translation
They took shelter in the bunker during the bombing.
