Brazo refers to the human or animal arm and, by extension, a branch-like appendage of a river (brazo de río), a geographical promontory (brazo de mar), or a branch of an organisation. A brazo partido means hand-to-hand, or figuratively with great effort. The idiom cruzarse de brazos (to cross one's arms) means to do nothing or stand idle.
