Barro means mud (los niños se mancharon de barro) and also the clay used in pottery (barro cocido = fired clay/terracotta). Vasijas de barro (clay vessels) is a common phrase. In some regions it also refers to a pimple on the skin — a colloquial but widespread use in Latin America.
