Autosuficiente describes a person, community, or system that does not depend on outside resources. The noun form is autosuficiencia. In everyday speech it can carry a slightly critical nuance—someone who is muy autosuficiente may be seen as unwilling to accept help—but this is context-dependent. It does not change for gender: es autosuficiente (m/f).
