Autoafección is a philosophical term, chiefly associated with phenomenology (Husserl, Heidegger), denoting the mind's capacity to affect itself — for example, the experience of hearing oneself speak. It is highly specialized and virtually absent from everyday Spanish. The prefix auto- signals self-reference.
