Usage Note

Atañer is a defective verb used only in the third person: atañe (it concerns), atañen (they concern). It is always followed by an indirect object: eso no me atañe (that does not concern me). Synonymous with concernir and incumbir, it carries a slightly more formal register. The gerund atañendo and past participle atañido exist but are rare.
