Ascendente describes movement, trajectory, or trend that goes upward — una curva ascendente (a rising curve), escala ascendente (ascending scale). In astrology, el ascendente (used as a masculine noun) refers to the rising sign at the moment of birth, a meaning widely recognised across Spanish-speaking countries. It is also used in genealogy: línea ascendente (ancestral line going back in time).
