Usage Note

Apresurar is a regular -ar verb. It is most commonly used reflexively: apresurarse ('to hurry oneself, to rush'). The transitive form (apresurar el paso = 'to quicken one's step') is also standard. The pronominal me apresuré a decir ('I hastened to say') is a frequent literary and journalistic construction.
