Usage Note

Aceleración is the standard physics term for the rate of change of velocity, but it is also used broadly for any speeding-up process — la aceleración económica (economic acceleration). Its plural is aceleraciones. The verb form is acelerar; the related noun for the car pedal is el acelerador.
