través

through

preposition trah-BEHS Common

Usage Note

Través almost never appears alone; the standard form is the prepositional phrase a través de, meaning 'through', 'across', or 'by means of'. A través del tiempo means 'across time'; a través de internet means 'via the internet'. The standalone noun través (a slant or reverse) is archaic; learners will only encounter it in a través de.
