Usage Note
Sintetizador refers chiefly to the electronic musical instrument. The verb behind it is sintetizar (to synthesize), and in non-musical contexts sintetizador can also describe a device or process that synthesizes chemicals or data. The plural sintetizadores is regular. Unlike English, the word is always written in full — no abbreviation 'synth' is standard in Spanish prose.
Examples
"El sintetizador dominó la música de los ochenta."
Natural Translation
The synthesizer dominated the music of the eighties.
