gentleman
Usage Note
Señor is the standard formal address for a man, equivalent to 'Mr.' before a surname or 'sir' in direct address. The feminine is señora (Mrs./ma'am) and the unmarked feminine title señorita (Miss) is used less than it once was in some countries. Abbreviated Sr. before surnames. Colloquially, el señor can mean 'the boss' or 'the man in charge' with ironic undertones.
Examples
"El señor García llegó tarde a la reunión."
Natural Translation
Mr. García arrived late to the meeting.
