Usage Note

Rodilla is always feminine. The phrase de rodillas means 'on one's knees', both literally and figuratively (begging). Hincar la rodilla means to kneel down. Be aware that rodillera is a kneecap protector or knee pad, while the kneecap bone itself is rótula.
