Usage Note
Robar can take either a person or a thing as its direct object: me robaron la cartera ('they stole my wallet') and robaron a un turista ('they robbed a tourist') are both correct. In informal speech robar is also used hyperbolically for overcharging: ¡esto es un robo! ('this is daylight robbery!'). The noun robo ('theft, robbery') is the paired form.
Examples
"Alguien robó mi bicicleta anoche."
Natural Translation
Someone stole my bicycle last night.
