Restablecimiento derives from restablecer (to restore) and refers to the act of bringing something back to a prior state — diplomatic relations (restablecimiento de relaciones diplomáticas), public order, or a patient's recovery. The verb restablecerse is used intransitively for a person recovering from illness.
