Usage Note
Renovar is an o>ue stem-changing verb in the present tense: renuevo, renuevas, renueva… It covers both administrative renewal (a passport, a contract) and physical renovation (a building). The related noun is renovación. Do not confuse with innovar (to innovate), which implies creating something new rather than updating something existing.
