Usage Note
Purpurina refers to the fine metallic powder used in crafts and decoration. The word is also used colloquially in Spain to describe the glitzy, superficial quality of something: todo era purpurina, meaning it was all show and no substance. Do not confuse it with púrpura, which means the colour purple.
Examples
"Los niños lanzaron purpurina al aire."
Natural Translation
The children threw glitter in the air.
