Origin: From Latin pollicaris (of the thumb), from pollex (thumb).

Usage Note

Pulgar is the thumb — the shortest, thickest digit of the hand. The gesture pulgar arriba means 'thumbs up'. The other fingers are índice (index), medio (middle), anular (ring), and meñique (little finger), each usually preceded by dedo.
