Usage Note

Presidencia refers to the office or term of a president or chairman. It is commonly heard in political reporting: durante su presidencia (during his/her presidency). The related words are presidente/presidenta (president/chair) and presidir (to preside over, to chair). In Spain both presidente and presidenta are used depending on the gender of the officeholder.
