Usage Note

Porte has two main senses: a person's bearing or physical presence (tiene buen porte — she carries herself well) and the cost of postage or shipping (gastos de porte — shipping charges). In commerce it often appears in the phrase porte pagado (postage paid) or porte debido (postage due). The first sense is somewhat literary; the second is everyday in Spain.
