Usage Note
Pierna refers specifically to the lower limb from hip to foot, or more narrowly the thigh-to-knee section depending on context. In everyday speech it covers the whole leg. Do not confuse with pata, which is used for an animal's leg or, informally and sometimes rudely, for a human leg. The plural piernas is very common.
Examples
"Me duele la pierna después de correr."
Natural Translation
My leg hurts after running.

To-me hurts the leg after running.
