Usage Note
Parentesco refers to the state or degree of family relationship between people. It is masculine. The phrase lazo de parentesco ('kinship tie') is common. Do not confuse it with pariente ('relative'), which is the person, while parentesco is the abstract bond between them.
Examples
"No existe ningún parentesco entre ellos."
Natural Translation
There is no family relationship between them.
