Paralización refers to the process or state of bringing something to a halt, and is most common in economic and political contexts (paralización de obras, 'work stoppage'; paralización del tráfico, 'traffic standstill'). It is distinct from parálisis, which is the medical term for physical paralysis of a body part. The verb is paralizar.
