Usage Note
Párpado is stressed on the first syllable — a proparoxytone (PAHR-pah-doh). The verb parpadear means to blink or flicker (also used for blinking lights). Sin pestañear (without batting an eyelash) is the idiomatic phrase for doing something without flinching, using pestaña (eyelash) rather than párpado.
Examples
"Le dolían los párpados de tanto leer."
