Usage Note
Nordeste is the standard Spanish term for the compass point 'northeast', used in geography, meteorology, and navigation. The variant noreste is equally accepted and slightly more common in Latin America; nordeste is more frequent in Spain. As a directional adjective it is invariable (viento nordeste).
