naval
adjective nah-BAHL Less Common
Origin: From Latin navalis, from navis (ship).
Usage Note
Naval is invariable for gender — una base naval, un combate naval. It applies to anything relating to ships or the navy. Do not confuse with navel (belly button in English) — they are spelling cognates but unrelated in meaning. The Spanish for belly button is ombligo.

The naval base is close to the port.
