Origin: From Latin matutinalis, of the morning.

Usage Note

Matinal is a more literary or formal synonym of matutino or de la mañana. It is invariable for gender (el programa matinal, la sesión matinal). In journalism and broadcasting, matinal often describes early-morning shows or editions. It should not be confused with madrigal (a musical term).
