Marisco is a collective noun covering shellfish and other edible sea creatures such as prawns, clams, mussels, and lobster, but not fish (pescado). In Spain a marisquería is a seafood restaurant specializing in shellfish. The plural mariscos is common everywhere for an assortment, as in una bandeja de mariscos.
