Usage Note

Lado is masculine and appears in many spatial expressions: al lado de ('next to, beside'), de un lado a otro ('from one side to the other'), and por otro lado ('on the other hand'). Por todos lados means 'everywhere, on all sides'. Dejar de lado means 'to set aside, to leave out'.
