kirchnerismo
Kirchnerism
noun keerk-neh-REES-moh Rare
Origin: From the surname Kirchner (Néstor and Cristina Kirchner) + -ismo
Usage Note
Kirchnerismo refers to the political current associated with Néstor Kirchner (Argentine president 2003–2007) and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (president 2007–2015, later vice-president 2019–2023). It is a centre-left populist strand within justicialismo (Peronism), emphasising human rights and state intervention. The term is essentially Argentine political jargon with little use outside that context.
