Usage Note

Jet in Spanish is used both for a jet aircraft and, as el jet or la jet, for the international social elite — la jet set is sometimes shortened to la jet in press usage, which is why the seed gender is feminine in that sense. The word is invariable in the plural (los jet, los jets both appear). As an anglicism it is written without an accent.
