Usage Note
Islamista functions as both a noun and an adjective and is invariable in form for both genders: el islamista, la islamista. It refers to someone who advocates political Islam, and should not be confused with islámico ('Islamic', relating to the religion broadly). The plural islamistas serves for both genders.
