Usage Note
Inversionista is the preferred term for 'investor' throughout Latin America, especially in financial and business journalism. In Spain inversor/inversora is more common. Both forms derive from inversión (investment). Inversionista is invariable in ending but takes gendered articles: el inversionista, la inversionista. Learners reading Spanish financial news should recognise both forms.
Examples
"El inversionista buscó nuevas oportunidades en Asia."
Natural Translation
The investor sought new opportunities in Asia.
