invalidity

Usage Note

Invalidez is the legal and administrative term for a disability or incapacity that prevents someone from working, used extensively in social-security contexts (pensión de invalidez, 'disability pension'). Modern usage increasingly prefers discapacidad for disability in general, with invalidez reserved for the legal concept of work incapacity. The plural invalideces is rarely needed. The final -z becomes -c before -es only if a plural were formed, but the word is typically used in the singular.

Examples

"Recibe una pensión por invalidez desde el accidente."

Natural Translation

She has been receiving a disability pension since the accident.
