Origin: From Latin interventio (a coming between).

Usage Note

Intervención spans multiple registers: a medical intervention (intervención quirúrgica = surgical procedure), a military or political intervention, and — in parliamentary or academic contexts — a speech or contribution to a debate (la intervención del ministro fue breve). The irregular plural is intervenciones. The verb is intervenir, which is also irregular: intervengo (yo).
