Origin: From Latin 'illaesus' (unhurt), from 'in-' (not) + 'laedere' (to hurt).
Usage Note
Ileso is almost exclusively used in contexts involving accidents, attacks, or disasters: salir ileso (to come out unharmed) is the standard collocation. Its feminine form is ilesa. The word is less common as an attributive adjective and more natural in predicative position after salir, quedar, or resultar.
