Usage Note

II is the Roman numeral for two, used in Spanish as an ordinal marker in titles, chapter headings, monarchs' names, and century references (siglo II, 'second century'). It is read aloud as segundo (masculine) or segunda (feminine) depending on the noun. Unlike Arabic numerals, Roman numerals in Spanish do not decline but the spoken form does agree in gender.
