Usage Note

Igualdad is central to political and social discourse (igualdad de género = 'gender equality', igualdad ante la ley = 'equality before the law'). In sport it means a tie or draw score (el marcador está en igualdad = 'the score is level'). The opposite is desigualdad. Related adjective: igual.
