Finanzas is almost always used in the plural in Spanish: las finanzas. The singular finanza is rare and archaic. The related adjective is financiero (financial), and the verb financiar means 'to finance'. Ministro de Finanzas is Finance Minister; in Spain the equivalent ministry is Hacienda.
