Fanerógamo is a botanical adjective describing plants that reproduce via visible seeds (flowering plants and gymnosperms), as opposed to criptógamas (ferns, mosses). The noun fanerógama refers to any such plant. This term is now largely replaced in modern taxonomy by espermatofita, but still appears in Spanish biology textbooks.
