Usage Note
Esposo is the formal or affectionate word for 'husband'; its counterpart is esposa (wife). Together, los esposos means 'the married couple' or 'the spouses.' In more colloquial registers, marido is common in Spain for 'husband.' Note that esposas in the plural can also mean 'handcuffs,' a common false-friend trap.
