Usage Note

Erosión covers both geological erosion (la erosión del suelo, 'soil erosion') and figurative wearing-away (la erosión del poder, 'the erosion of power'). The plural erosiones is regular. The verb erosionar (transitive) and the reflexive erosionarse ('to erode') share the same root.
