Entendido used attributively means well-versed or expert in a field — un entendido en vinos ('a wine connoisseur'). As a noun, un entendido means 'an expert' or 'a connoisseur'. It also appears in the phrase ¿entendido? meaning 'understood?' — a completely different use that learners should not confuse with the adjective sense.
