Usage Note

Enebro (Juniperus communis) is the juniper shrub whose berries (bayas de enebro) are the defining botanical in gin — ginebra in Spanish, a word derived from the Dutch name for the same plant. The wood is aromatic and was historically used for smoking meats. It thrives in the dry highlands of the Iberian Peninsula.
