Embolsar literally means to put something into a bag (bolsa), but it is almost always used figuratively to mean 'to pocket' money or winnings — embolsó un millón de euros. Reflexively, embolsarse emphasises personal gain: se embolsó las ganancias (he pocketed the profits). It carries a slightly informal, sometimes mildly negative connotation suggesting someone is keeping money for themselves.
